When things are not turning out the way you want, you need to find a hack to make it work. Here are some of the hacks I found in SharePoint Online that can help you save time and effort. Let's skip the line.

Did you know that you can make a call directly from SharePoint Online? You can use a buttonm or a link to trigger a call to a phone number that is not limited to just MS Teams.

Buttom replacement to expand color palette

The default color palette in SharePoint Online is limited because it follows the selected theme. It can be frustrating when you want to use a specific color that is not available in the palette. However, you can use a hack to expand the color palette by using a button replacement. You can create a button replacement without developing a separate solution in SPF that opens a color picker and allows you to select any color you want.

Method:

  • Use text web part. Use highlighter to select the text and choose the color you want. Then, use the hyperlink option to link the text to the page you want. This way, you can have a wider range of colors to choose from and make your SharePoint Online site more visually appealing.

Reusable web parts

Not all web parts are created equal. Some web parts are more flexible and reusable than others. Here are my top three reusable web parts in SharePoint Online:

  1. Adaptive Card Web Part: This web part allows you to create and display adaptive cards, which are a type of card-based UI that can be used to display information and actions in a visually appealing way. You can reuse the same adaptive card across different pages and sites, making it a great option for displaying consistent information.

  2. PnP Modern Search Web Part: This web part allows you to create custom search experiences in SharePoint Online. You can reuse the same search configuration across different pages and sites, making it a great option for providing a consistent search experience.
