When Go Is the Right Choice

Why Choose Go?

Choose Go when you need:

  • Long-term maintainability
  • Predictable performance
  • Fast builds and deployments
  • Clear, readable code across teams

Go shines in enterprise systems, platform engineering, and backend services where stability and scalability matter more than rapid experimentation.

GoalRecommendation
Learn Go APIs properlyGin or Chi
Enterprise / long-term APIsChi + net/http
High-performance edge APIsFiber
MVC / full-stackBeego or Buffalo

Recommendation

If your goal is:

"A master API service that will withstand time"

👉 Chi or Gin is the sweet spot.

🔑 Key Design Principles (Why This Works)

  • cmd/ → entry points only (main packages)
  • internal/ → protected app code (cannot be imported externally)
  • domain/ → business models (pure Go, no frameworks)
  • service/ → business logic
  • repository/ → data access
  • handler/ → HTTP layer (Gin/Chi/Echo)
  • Dependency flows inward (outer layers depend on inner ones)

This structure prevents spaghetti code as the app grows.
